Tours: Patsy Reid
Tue 27th Apr 2010 - Wed 5th May 2010
Hailing from Knapp in Perthshire, Patsy Reid is one of Scotland's most exciting young fiddlers, winning acclaim for her solo recordings and performances, as well as her work with the award-winning band Breabach. Now in her late 20s, Reid started playing the violin aged eight, and seeing Natalie McMaster in concert at the age of ten inspired her to explore different styles of playing. She remains the youngest ever winner of the prestigious Glenfiddich Fiddle Championship and was a finalist in the original BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year Award. She has released two solo albums, With Complements, from 2002, and Bridging The Gap, a live recording of a piece she was commissioned to write for Celtic Connections' New Voices strand in 2008. Drawing from Scottish tradition, as well as influences from Cape Bretton, America and classical music, hers is a graceful and imaginative take on folk.
