A transatlantic experience with

Breabach (Scotland) and Le Vent du Nord (Québec)

Canada's Le Vent Du Nord and Scotland's Breabach are familiar to audiences in this country, but Tune Up audiences will be the first to hear this exciting new collaboration between the groups. Both bands are known for their inventive and vibrant take on Celtic music, blending traditional material with their own tunes to create fresh new sounds.

Hailing from Quebec, Le Vent Du Nord feature the talents of Nicolas Boulerice (vocals, hurdy gury, piano, accordian) Réjean Brunet (vocals, button accordian, bass guitar), Simon Beaudry (vocals, guitar, Irish bouzouki), and Olivier Demers (vocals, fiddle, foot-tapping).

Breabach formed as students in Glasgow and are led by the double pipes and flute of Calumn MacCrimmon and Donal Brown, and the fiddle of Patsy Reid with Ewan Robertson adding his energetic guitar.

With the Celtic influence on the Quebecois folk repertoire, Le Vent Du Nord's collaboration with Breabach makes perfect sense. In addition to each band performing music from its home country, both groups will explore a combined repertoire, drawing on elements from both sides of the Atlantic. The tour promises to be a lively and joyful celebration of Celtic connections.
