Tune Up 2009-10 Applications

Tune Up is pleased to welcome proposals for tours in Scotland between September 2009 and August 2010.

Tune Up was established to take the highest quality professional live music of all styles to communities all over Scotland, helping to offset the additional costs of reaching these areas and the smaller income from smaller audiences and also to encourage the kind of musical and artistic collaborations which would not normally be possible in a commercial context.

We are now inviting proposals for tours.

If you wish to propose a tour for our consideration then please read the proposal guidelines and complete a form.

This scheme is highly competitive so we recommend that you pay close attention to the guidelines, fully consider your proposal and provide a good level of detail. Because the scheme has many applicants we would also ask that you are concise as possible in your proposal.

When selecting the panel are looking first and foremost for the highest quality music, this scheme is for professional musicians. If you are not yet performing professionally then it is unlikely that your proposal will be selected.

After this we are looking at how well your proposal fits with the Tune Up Guidelines and with all or any of the stated priorities of the scheme.

We are also looking for a final roster of tours which represent the best of the fullest range of music styles and which are covering the geographic spread of Scotland.

  • Wed 18 March 2009 - Proposals must be received by Scottish Arts Council.
  • April 2009 - Tune Up panel meet to shortlist
  • Friday 17 April 2009 - Applicants informed of outcome

If you are a venue keen to receive Tune Up tours there are two ways to engage:

  • Contact the shortlisted tours and indicate your interest after 17 April – the shortlisted proposals and their contacts will be circulated to the Tune Up Industry Mailing List.
  • Venues are able to form a venues syndicate and propose a tour – if four or more venues wish to book the same artist then can apply listing the artist and using their venues as the tour dates.

If you have any further questions the first point of contact is Isla Angus, Tune Up Manager isla@toutpartout.be, 0141 404 7478.

Tune Up has a two-stage application process – if your proposal is shortlisted you will need to submit a further full-application for funding to the Scottish Arts Council.

We look forward to receiving your proposals.

  • Scottish Arts Touring - a database with some multi-arts venues in Scotland which will be helpful when planning your proposal.
