Passionate, dynamic and inventive, Spiers & Boden are at the forefront of the new English folk revival. Renowned for their punky, contemporary take on traditional ballads and dance tunes, Spiers & Boden are also founding members of the highly acclaimed 11-piece folk big band Bellowhead, and worked with Eliza Carthy on her Mercury Music Prize nominated album Anglicana. Jon Boden (singer, fiddle, guitar, stomp-box) plays fiddle with an earthy vigour and sings with frantic energy, while John Spiers (melodeon, concertina) breathes new life into the traditional squeezebox styles by blending them with contemporary dance music, creating an infectious acoustic groove which has an amazing effect on folk and pop fans alike. Winners of the Best Duo category at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in both 2004 and 2006, and a Critic's choice nomination at the BBC World Music Awards, Speirs & Boden represent the contemporary folk scene in all its vibrancy.
