Dave Milligan Trio

In their decade together the Dave Milligan Trio have developed a richly distinctive sound that has been compared to piano trios such as the Bad Plus, Brad Mehldau and E.S.T while possessing a unique folk-tinged character. Mastermind, with harpist Corrina Hewitt, of folk orchestra the Unusual Suspects, Milligan is a pianist as comfortable with jazz improvisation as he is with the traditional music of his native Scotland. Bassist Tom Lyne hails from Canada, but is well established on the Scottish jazz and folk crossover scene, performing with artists such as Sophie Bancroft and guitarist Kevin MacKenzie. Drummer Tom Bancroft has played with everyone from Sun Ra and Martyn Bennett to Bill Wells, and is heavily involved in music education, working with individual students and entire schools. Together, the Trio have released two albums, The Late Show and the much praised Shops.
