Harem Scarem are a vivacious, sprightly bunch of characters famed for blending lush
contemporary vocals with the very best of traditional music. They produce a sound that
is both imaginative and original, "a combination of outstanding individual musicianship and
finely attuned familiarity lends their sound a wonderful suppleness, lift and spontaneity" -The
Scotsman.
The band is full of bright personalities with a wealth of musical expertise and creativity
despite their tender years.
Inge Thomson from The Karine Polwart Band - winner of three 2005 Radio 2 folk
awards - is the latest guest singer with esteemed Danish duo, Fromseier-Rose. Inge also
plays with Shetland heroes, Drop the Box.
Sarah McFadyen is currently enjoying the life of a pop star as one of Aberfeldy - the latest phenomenal pop success from Scotland.
Nuala Kennedy plays with Anam and Fine Friday, who were nominated for best up-and-coming band at the 2004 Scottish Folk Awards.
Eilidh Shaw is busy with the hugely successful Unusual Suspects (who have just finished their critically acclaimed TUNE UP tour), The Poozies, John Rae's Celtic Feet and Keep it Up.
Ross Martin, who has recently been touring with the Julie Fowlis Band, is due to record a new album with Cliar, and is still regularly head-lining huge festivals with Diamh.
Joining the Edinburgh-based group of musical hooligans, and helping to make the sparks
fly for this TUNE UP tour in April is the legendary Will 'Bonnie Prince Billy'
Oldham - a poet of notoriety, a sensitive imaginative songsmith who has been wowing
audiences the world over with his unique relationship with music. An unconventional
soul, Will is respected for the honesty in his voice and the honesty of his performances.
