This unique folk/celtic band will be wowing audiences across Scotland with blistering live performances...
Put together by harpist and singer, Corrina Hewat, the Unusual Suspects blend voice, fiddles, pipes, brass, harp, piano and drums into an extraordinary sound in a celebration of the best of Scottish traditional music. Their arrangements are always harmonious, and dance between full-throttled rampage and orchestrated finesse.
The line-up includes ten fiddlers, seven singers, three pipers, three accordionists, and a brace each of harpists and percussionists, plus piano, whistles, guitar, bouzouki, bass and brass. Featuring musicians from major Scottish groups the stellar line up includes David Milligan, Colin Steele, Fraser Fifield, Aidan O'Rourke, Catriona McDonald and Eilidh Shaw.
"...the sound of a gargantuan assembly of musicians playing with a folk group's mobility and togetherness but with an orchestral richness... But it's the way musical directors David Milligan and Corrina Hewat have the various sections - punchy brass; shimmering whistles; rampant pipes; jigging accordions and an efficient rhythm team - that makes this mad juggernaut so exhilarating..."
