Fresh new sounds: unique electronic style with some of the finest vocals around as the duo behind the T in the Park dance tent bring you their fired-up live set...
SLAM (aka Stuart McMillan & Orde Meikle) have been together as a DJ act and production team since the late eighties. Their achievements include programming the 15,000 capacity SLAM dance tent at the T in the Park festival for the past seven years. The pair have built up a regular fan base through running the popular Glasgow club night Pressure. They are renowned on the international DJ stage and their singles include dancefloor classics 'Positive Education' (1993) and 'Lifetimes' (2001). Their new album 'Year Zero' (released by SOMA Recordings on 30 August 2004) where they fuse their unique electronic style with some of the finest vocals around, has inspired this Tune Up tour to play live to a whole new audience outwith the city centres. SLAM says of 'Year Zero': 'this is an album of fully realised songs and future classics…the songs and music carry the album'.
Vocalists on the new 'Year Zero' album include Dot Allison (Massive Attack), Tyrone Palmer (Felix Da Housecat) as well as Billie Ray Martin, Annie Saunderson, Envoy and Elbbe Bad. The USA artist Tyrone Palmer will be touring and performing live with SLAM.
This Tune Up tour will see SLAM prepare fresh new sounds using new software delivery systems and is part of a wider European & World tour that will run until summer 2005.
